HI all, just wondering has anyone, changed positions of the air vents/thermostat/AC control panel and moved it to the bottom, space? The reason why I ask is that I am thinking of moving the CD head unit up to the top and then cup holders in second space. Stereo man said not sure if possible as he’s never done one and could cost $$$$$ and still might not be able to move it. I guess it all depends on cable lengths behind the dash?

Anything is possible, man reached the moon after all. It might take a similar level of effort though. I can't say I've heard of anyone doing this ever. How many kit cars are there that even have a complete a/c & vent system ? Of 20+ that I've looked at closely, one may have had most of it. It also had a Toyota v6 motor rear mounted in a 750-800kg car. My first thought is that it's not worth the hassle. It is completely up to you of course and it would be different. Normally when I play around with stereos, I can't find enough room back there to get my hand in, yet alone having the entire vent control system moved 12" down. I think there would be too many issues with trying to get cables and linkages to line up. It would have to be a complete dash out of the car job and probably require fabrication of mounting brackets for all the equipment. Have I discouraged you enough yet ? That wasn't my intention, just trying to give you some material to think about I guess. See ya. Graham.

I've looked at doing this also - just coz its a pain to reach down to the stereo and it would be easier up in the top panel.
But after looking behind there, it would take alot of effort and/or $$$ to make all the levers couple up properly. It would be a lot easier if it was an electrical heater / AC unit.
If you do go ahead with it then i'd like to be the forst to say GOOD LUCK!!!

BUGGER!!!
I was hoping that it was going to an easy job but it looks like I will just leave it as it is. Better off spending the money in more useful ways like lifting the car? Thanks guys for advice
Cheers pissy
