Hi,
Does anyone have actual fuel consumption figures (litres / 100km) for Wizards? I am interested in the "real" difference in running costs between Diesel & Petrol. Thanks

Have a look at some of the quoted figures for bighorns and mus on this site Round town the Wizard will be virtualy identical but should be slightly better than the bighorn on ther open road due to better airodynamics. As a rough idea 28 - 30 mpg for 3.1 diesel slightly better for the 3.0.Petrol will be roughly 18 - 20 mpg. Also remember that the diesel needs oil changes every 5000km and petrol every 10000 at $30 for oil in each case Filters cost more on the diesels Also as your in NZ your milage charge for the diesel is going up to 3.14 cents per km. Diesel is still best if you do a lot of km but if you dont petrol is getting more attractive.

I've kept a log book, for various reasons, since I bought my 3.1TD Wizard two years ago. I have two sets of figures. One for all running and one that excludes any off road stuff or time spent running around with the 33" tyres on.
Fuel consumption on road only 9.17km/l Fuel consumption all driving 8.63km/l Based on 89c/l (today in Tauranga) On road only 9.7c/km All driving 10.3c/km Maintanence 7.1c/km Road User Charges 3.14c/km
Maintanence is based on dealer servicing, road tyres, new air cleaners but excludes goodies such as bull bar, body lift, mud tyres etc.
This gives a per km cost (excluding registration, insurance and depreciation) of around 20cents.

A few years ago I did a comparison on fuel economy for the 2. and the 2.6 petrol in a Mu. Including road tax the diesel worked out at 10 cents per litre cheaper than the 2.6. The cost per litre is hardly worth worrying about, it all comes down to weather you want the HP of a petrol or the offroad drivability of the diesel. W.

Hi, Ive got a Diesel Wizard with the 3ltr common rail motor and I will start up a log book for it because Im very curios to compare fuel costs with the earlier 3.1 motor.
Mine is used for on road only and is stock standard.
