Thinking of buying myself a GPS with mapping for my 50th birthday, so I would like a bit of feed back from anyone with one, all makes and models no worries, prices as well please.

I am using a Garmin E-Trex Legend, Great unit, only mono display but ample for off roading.

Is capable of loading maps as well, mine currently contains all the NZ Nth Island street maps. Very Handy...

Club Member price was about $450 (NZ) I think.... will need to double check if your interested, although you can get from a place in Bris for great prices as well.

Thanks for the info guys, I know a bit about chart plotters ( thats what they call the mapping GPS's for marine) but am not sure how good the land based mapping is. The only one I've been able to look at so far is the Magellan with DiscoverAus cd rom, looks ok but a bit had to see the screen. Will go and check out the Garmin and the Silva and see what there screens are like.

When I was looking I found them to have amoung the best prices in AU. My brother has been in their shop, top score for customer service.

Their prices still appear to be really good.
