Just have a few questions about the MU I thought you folks might be able to answer.
We're able to import older MU's (and other JDM diesels) into Canada now, and I have a chance to pick up a 91 MU 2.8Td 5-speed (which might be the only one in North America so far). It's in mint shape with 90,000kms, but I'm used to the space and roominess of the Trooper.
Anyone use their MU to cart around the family? They seem to have fairly decent room for a 2dr, but until you see it loaded up with kids seats, the cooler, the dog, the wife, and the shopping, it's hard to tell.
Also, I know how wonderful that engine was in my Bighorn, so I imagine a MU stick-shift must get even better mileage. Anything will beat the 3.2 V6 hog in my current Troop. I cheer if I get more than 300kms out of a tank (in the city)...
Basically, I'm looking for a way to justify the purchase with the Mrs., and if you folk can't help, I'm doomed! ;-)
Cheers and thanks,
BH

For my 2c worth: I definitely like my Mu, but there is a distinct shortage of space in the back with the seats down, with the seats up it is fine - but then only a 2 seater!!! The leg-room for the back seat passengers is fantastic, but the egress is challenging - perhaps not so tough for the younger set tho'. As for gas mileage; I get 10-11 litres/100kms (if that means anything in Canada), which should equate to about 600+ kms from a tank. This is round town driving, I haven't done enough long trips to measure consumption on the open road. Good luck!

If you want to see what one looks like before committing to the purchase The Amigo has a virtually identical body. I know people that have got 1000km on a tank of diesel with that engine. Apart from a little smoke at idle it would be close to the best 4wd diesel engines around.
