Been searching around while in a state of complete boredom and found arial photos and orthophotos that are free to download/view.

Very very cool. You can download the smaller 2.5mb file or as I did download the approx 45mb Tiff files that you can really zoom in on (even found my house - had the washing out!!).
Thought someone might be interested. You can finally find out "whats over that ridge" :-)
South Manukau head for example (I reduced its size considerably as the original 2.5mb file was 6000x6000 pixels)
