I have located a turbo as a hopeful replacement on my 3.1TD Bighorn. The owner only knows it came off an Isuzu. I’m told it has cast on its side IHI RHF5 with these numbers engraved next to it 23425A. Also a spec number 0201 and a part number 8971480762. Does anyone know what these numbers mean and would it be a suitable as a replacement for my existing turbo which has the following markings –spec VIAN 940?(I think, hard to see it clearly), RHF5 8(or a B?)37 238E, part no 8970863 433. Under a google search, the nearest serial number match I got was on asp.turbo.com.sg/p_isuzu.asp referred to a trooper(97-99) 4JG2TC(EC) engine, part no 897148060 RHF5, VA430023, VICC My existing dying turbo matched up near to this as a trooper 4JG2TC, part no 897086341…6, RHF5B, VH660012, VIAN Also, can anyone tell me please what identifies a serviceable turbo?

I have no idea on the numbers for matching your turbo. As for what defines a serviceable turbo there are a couple of things you can check. 1 Check that the impellor shaft spins freely and dosent have excessive end float. 2 Check the oil return hole for carbon build up as this will also give a rough indication as to bearing condition. 3 If in doubt take it to a turbo specialist and get it checked out. Hope this helps Richard.
