Had a bit of fun, (NOT!) with my front pads in the 94MU recently. I'd fitted Bendix 4wd 1270's about 30K ago and had an issue with constant squeaking with one of them. When I finally got sick of it and popped them out to check, both outer pads had fractured down the centre. Interestingly the original pads that came with the car two years ago had a slot down the centre of the pad as do the Ferodo 1270's I've just put in. What pads do we use in our trucks as I was not impressed by the 'you can't "Bend'ix" pads'. After replacing the pads on the weekend I've now got a low rumbling noise appered from the front, but I think that's just wheel bearing replacement time. Gee I love working on my truck EVERY F**KN WEEKEND!!!!J

Im useing the bendix 4x4 pads with no issues althouigh I havnt done that milage. The slot on the other pads is to get rid of water and other unmentionables that could cause brake fade Its suprising that the bendix dosnt have them. Also strange the outer pad cracks as this is the better suported pad

I believe the pads fracturing may be due to sudden cooling after overuse, ( a river crossing) but that really shouldn't have happened if you ask me. J

yeah I'm not a fan of the bendix my last set of rears only lasted 5000k's
but the guys at the brake shop just said that they are the best.
so I put another set in, we'll see how they go..... but never had trouble with the front...
Edit: mine is the 2.8 so it has different brake pads anyway............

I still haven't changed the fronts- they have the slot as well. I've got Queensland Friction Manufacturers (QFM) brake pads in the rear and waiting for the fronts to go before changing with the same.
My mechy reckons bendix are crap and doesn't use them
