I have this squeak, driving me nuts, hear it when driving and when I turn off the motor. First throught, engine mount, get under looks ok, get help to turn motor on and off, trace it to above the gear box or in that area. Sprayed everything around there that I think it would be and now I think it is worse. So anyone had this problem, you can not hear anything when you jump up and down on when stationary, only when moving and turning the motor off. Cheers Bruce PS its worse when I drive over rough terrain.

Hi Bruce
Had a similar annoying squeak on my MU. Very similar symptoms! With a help of a friend, we found out it was the body mounted hood lock that mates to the engine hood's round bar (shaped like a letter U). Its the one where the hood release cable is also connected. After spreading some multi-purpose grease on both their mating surfaces, that **!!@ squeak was gone! After, I also adjusted the 2 round hood snubbers. Rotated them so they would extend some more thereby floating the hood some more and reducing stress and friction on that hood lock thingy

hi bruce funny you should say that coz i had a similiar noise & in investigating it found my exhaust was rubbing on the rear quater guard ever so slightly. could pay to check yours by giving it a wobble from the tailpipe. failing that check your gearbox mount. hope this is some help dude.

I had exactly the same type of squeak. Was the bonnet hold down.

Well I've checked the exhaaust not there. Then tried to work out what the hood (bonnet) thing would be, hood opened I noticed no noise. closed the hood and there it was again. Greesed the catch mechanism and went for a drive and the squeak has gone. ;D Never would have thought to look there, thanks Astro. I remember years ago having this terrible noise in one of my yachts, sailing/moving, sounded like it was in the cockpit but no the anchor had come loose and was hitting up against the bow, thanks again for the imput . Cheers Bruce

Likewise Bruce, it was one of the last things we thought that would create that annoying squeak (after spraying the whole front suspension bushings and joints with WD40 haha). Now we can tone down our stereo's volume ;D Happy it worked for you and to be of help!

Have now totally fix this problem, brought two new bonnet rubbers today $17 for both. The old ones were stuffed and the bonnet was able to move, not any more. They come off the TF model Rodeo. Cheers Bruce.
