Hi all,
Just did my first ever oil change today. I usually have Midas do it for me. This time I thought I'd save a couple of bucks and give it a go myself. Pretty chuffed with mysekf actually. (sad, I know!)
Anyway by using a better oil, can this increase the performance of your vehicle?? I used Pennzoil Long Life 15W-40 and reckon I notice a difference in performance (has a bit more rrrrmmmmmm) I also gave the 2.8 a flush before putting the new juice in.
Is this performance increase possible or am I just imagining it?
Cheers, Adrian.

Some oils can give a few more hp- as demonstrated in Aus 4wd monthly recently. I wouldn't use an oil for that reason alone though.
cheers

First things first ... CONGRATS on doing your first oil change. I agree with Roger re not using a particular oil for that reason alone. In my 300 and something thousand k's in the MU, I look for the oil that is in the best condition after 5000 k's. I have only used Pennzoil a couple of times and whilst I think it is not a bad oil, it didnt cut it for my application. The increase is certainly possible.

Thanks guys,
Just to clarify though, I didn't put Pennzoil in the Mu with the intetion of increasing the power, rather I bought the oil on the Repco man's recomendation.
The increase in rrrmmmm when I went for a spin around the block was mearly a bonus.
Cheers, Adrian.
