Just renewed my Ins. with DGA, (4WD Aust) which was $713 comp with 60%. And I noticed they changed from the agreed value clause back to Market value. I had previously agreed $15K so I rang them to contest the change and asked them what they deemed the market value was and they replied $17.5K + extras So I paid and then said I was expecting the value to be lower? and the reply was the market value has increased! ;D J

$713? Wow, I'm shelling out $1100 at the moment. You must be in a "low risk" area or ins. prices have dropped since I renewed in April. About time something nice occured between a person and an insurance company. G.

I’m with DGA as well and I’m paying $553 (60% no claim) for a roughly standard 94 MU plus a few extras. They seem to be the best by far for insurance premiums, but I thought that they don’t cover accessories? If they do then I should tell them exactly what I have on/in the car. As for your market value Justin, that’s a great price, $17500 plus,…..NICE!!
Could the MU now be an investment,...MAYBE ;D

Pissy, what state/city are you in? Justin & I are in Sydney, I'm guessing that's why our premiums are higher than yours. I'm 32 with 60%ncb so have NFI why my last premium was so high.
I too thought the MU had the potential of being an investment as just after I bought mine, the SEVS rules came into effect which means that no more MUs can be imported into the country. There's also a 15 year old import rule now but I'm not sure if MUs are allowed on that one or not. Has anyone looked at/for MUs in car yards lately and can comment on price? When I was looking, there was a place on Woodville Rd asking $15k+ for 90 and 91 model 2.8 MUs!!!
Cheers, G.

Graham, I'm Brisbane (in a good suburb too I might add), 31 and 60%NCB, my policy is for market value, my MU is a 94 auto 91000kms in tip top condition so I would hope to get 17ish should the worst happen. I will also place a post later today with the current MUs for sale in Brisbane and prices for a comparison. I recall about a 6months ago when I was looking I could not find any either private or dealer and when I did,….OVER PRICED, e.g. 15ish for 92 with 150000kms but now there’s a few but most are 90-93. I’m guessing that the 94s are few but the 95-97 models are extremely hard to get now or should I say impossible, people must be keeping them or due to changes in Australian Imports.

As promised, here is a rough list of current MUs for sale in Brisbane, I only noted the basics.
Year KMs Price
1. 1990 ? $7000 2. ? ? $8000 3. 1993 ? $9300 4. ? ? $10500 5. 1995 12300 $11500 6. 1991 75788 $12990 7. 1994 ? $13900 8. 1993 146000 $14000 9. 1993 128000 $14000 11. 1993 168000 $14000 10. 1993 129000 $14500
I hope that this is sufficient enough to get an idea of the Brisbane market, I can only guess that the NZ market would be cheaper, as there are alot more MUs there?
Cheers

That seems a bit cheap Pissy. Whats it like in the other states in comparision? How much was yours ? Surely the Deisels would be popular in NZ due to fuel prices. Mind you, we are currently paying $1.08 for deisel at the moment, and I am not happy about that. What happened to the Qld Fuel Subsidies ??
