Ever since having my auto hubs replaced, I have noticed a lot of sideways movement in the cv's. I took the hub off during the weekend to see if the circlips had come off, and found that there are none. The hub can split in two, which is the only way I can see that I can get the clips on, but is this normal?
Cheers

In general it is not normal there should be a circlip. What sort of hubs did you put on If they are asin it is easy to get at the circlip from the front of the hub. The axle movment could also be the bearing and seal in the rear of the hub assembly which are aparently isuzu only parts but quite cheap and easy to change once you remove the whole hub assembly.

You really do need to retain the CV shft with c clips as without the play in the CV shaft can lead to only partial engagement of the splines and possible stripping of the splines under load. I lost half the length of the splines completly due to a lost c clip.
Also the CV shaft/hub seal will leak as it will not be held against the hub.
What hubs have you had fitted? Yes, often the hub has to be split to get at the c-clip Do someone fit them for you? Sounds more than a little doggy if there is no c-clip. If you fit c-clips do they hold the shaft?
Some modification may be necessary, for example superwinch hubs c clips don't actually hold anything. An additional part has to be machined to make em work.

James, they were fitted by a mechanic, as they were covered by my Autosure warranty. They are ORA hubs that look relatively weak, but at least they were free. The old auto hubs had clips in them, but it looks like I have to split these hubs to see if I can get another clip on, if not I will hit Autosure up and ask for them to solve the problem.
I have run the hubs for a while like this now, and have found one side squeeks when the hubs are locked, should I do a bearing repack to make sure there is no gunk in there? Can the hub/shaft seal be purchased seperately? How do I know how much to tighten the bearing again?
Cheers

Re the hub seal / bearing This is not the wheel bearing but anouther one read the post under " faults / drivetrain/ seal between front axle and hub" all you need to know is in there.Your Isuzu/ holden dealer can easily get the parts Mine cost 65 for the bearing and seal If its sqeaking in 4wd I would replace both. Wheel bearings are set to a preload of 3.3 pound measured at the wheel stud

Thanks, have purchased wheel bearing seals (2 per hub) and bearings are ordered. Was wondering if the seal on the cv ever needs replacing (if it can be). Also, what special tools do I need for doing the wheel bearing/seals? Torque wrench?
Cheers

No special tools, but I've got a good kit of tools.
I would be hitting your mechanic rather hard as quite frankly the work is completly substandard if no c clips were fitted. Really his work would void any warranty. Bad hub sealing, loose shaft, stripped splines. Just put your hand around behind the hub grabb the CV shaft and see how much you can move it!
I would be checking those splines, I would bet there is at least some damage if you have had it in 4WD with no C-clips.
