Gday 1 & all
I have just replaced all injectors in my 4jx1 due to ongoing issues with leaking, power loss etc. All new o rings etc as supplied with kit replaced as well. I also checked the glow plugs while they were accessible & found all were 4 buggered as well. replaced these, put it all back together & started after a bit of cranking. Issues with excessive smoking, left it to run for a while, seemed to reduce the smoke. Runs as smooth as its ever been, great acceleration & power, smoking disappears after 10 minutes of motorway running. All good!. But then after sitting for 4 - 6 hours, excess smoking again on startup, needs to be revved for a while, smoke slowly lessens, take i for a run & smoke gone. What am I missing?, Do the injectors/ECU need any reprogramming for sensors etc.

Is this oil or diesel smoke? Are the glow plugs connected correctly and the same type? The glowplugs on these engines run for 5 or 10 min after the engine starts to control emissions? have you done a compression test? A common result of faulty injectors on this engine is scored bores Otherwise its a trip to your favorite Holden dealer with credit card in hand

gday Geeves
I believe its diesel smoke, smell of unburnt fuel & its white rather than blueish. The glow plugs are new & the same type, & were tested before going in. Interesting that you say they operate for 5 or 10 mins though. Any way to check there operation while in situ? the new Injectors came with a label that states "r/p sensor" with a number, while the old label affixed to the engine says a different number. Is it possible the computer needs to be reprogrammed with this sensor number? or any reprogramming/calibration for the new injectors that you know of?

dont know. To work on those engines you need a degree in electronic engine management as well as being fully qualified as a diesel mechanic. Holden have the computer to plug in and ask the engine what is wrong
