2.8 / 3.1 flywheels

are the flywheels fitted to 2.8 4jb1 and 3.1 4jg2 models interchangeable?

The only difference it appears that the 3.1 flywheel takes a larger diameter friction plate 250mm vs the 2.8s 240mm plate.

Does the 3.1 have an 8 bolt crank just like the 2.8?

I think they are interchangeable on the crank but dont know the diameter. Could have problems getting it into the bellhousing and lineing up the starter motor

just thinking are they the same block, or does the 3.1 have a taller block?

They bolt up the same....as said the only difference is the 10mm in internal dia for the clutch plate.

brilliant, so id better stick a 3.1 fly on the 2.8 to make use of the extra clutch capacity
