Hey guys,
Im new here. I own a Holden Frontera, sport model (the ones like the Isuzu MU's)
Anyway i have had it for about 2 months, and i just thought i would find out why its engine bay is so bloody noisy. It sounds to me as though its just normal engine noises. But i was just wondering if anyone else found this with there MU's or Frontera's?
Cheers Guys..
Nick

Since the MU's are diesel, that will usually make a bit more noise than the petrol engine in the Frontera's.
That said, my MU's engine is pretty quiet, only really notice the tappets for a little bit when I start it up in the mornings, but then it quietens down after about 5 mins or so .. or if I stick the boot in and wind it up , and even then , it's not that loud.. I get more noise from my tyres than the engine these days ( open block mud tyres.. )

whats the predominate noise sound like ? if it's got an after market air filter, or a pod, then they can make the engine pretty loud.. but it could be anything ... low oil levels, cam on it's way out, no under felt under the carpet on the firewall, no bonnet ( ), etc.. is it the 4 banger or a V6 ?

Arent the 3 door fronteras all the opel 4 cylinder petrol engine? Usual causes of noise are leaky exhaust, sticky tapets, leaky intake or missing air cleaner. Modifyed air cleaners are also noisy.
