Hi
I'm new to the forum and new to Isuzu. Got a 2001 Wizard a month ago. I'm located in Fiji. Astounding forum. More energy to club Isuzu.
One day while normal city driving all electrical systems suddenly cut off as if the ingnition had been switched off. All red warning lights came on. When I restarted (while in motion) it started fine. This repeated itself 6 - 7 times that day.
No problem after that day, except once when I hit a pothole and the jerk caused the same electrical shut down. Started perfectly after that too.
Maybe a loose wire or something?
This Wizard is diesel and has two battery's ubder the hood. BTW The manual is in Japanese. Anywhere I can get a English one.
Thanx in advance for you time a nd advice

I had the same problem a few weeks ago in my 99 frontera (v6 petrol) but did have a dual battery set up.
turns out the guy how istalled the dual battery did a dodgy job of the wiring, and most of the connection were barly connected.
Is your "starter" battery on the right side of the car? (assuming desiel are the same set up under the bonnet). mine had been swapped witch was the main concern for my electical fualts.
i ended up taking mine to a 4x4 mechanic and paid to get it fixed... (so far about $350 worth of work with about another $400 left to spend.
anyways hope i have been of some help.

Since Saturday last the car won't start at all. Before the batttery died on me, I got the Isuzu mech (Carpenters group here). His hand held monitor could not communicate with the ECS so the car got towed to the service center . Still awaiting a reply from the mech but he says it coud be the ' computer board'.

Mine did the same thing before it got towed to my mechanic. they thought it might have been the computer too but then found all the dodgy wiring. he did tell me that they (being frontera's in my case) must have the right voltage or they wont start... so if there is a loose connection or something then there is a good chance it wont start. dont know if its the same with the desiel isuzu's hope it all works out for u.

After two days of sweating while the mechs couldn't find the fault I called them and told them that since the car had stalled and restarted a few times before it stalled permanently, in my view, it should be a loose wire or something.
That evening they called and said the car was repaired!
"What was the fault?" I asked.
"A loose wire" they replied!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"How much is the charge?"
The answer "$ 220/-"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Smoke is still coming out of my ears, but the Wizard is working fine.

Hi funny you should say that? coz the last time we went to fiji we made it a habit to ask for local price instead of tourist prices then they would normally reply by saying are you kiwi? so we just agreed. It seemed to be the better deal other than saying we were aussie, which makes you wonder about rascism eh? maybe you should of asked for the kiwi price too?. Besides that the only enjoyable experience we had was dinning at the saffron indian restaurant. very impressive!! regards muvit

Sometimes finding a problem takes far longer than fixing it. If the mechanic had spent a week looking for a problem then only charged the 30 minuites he took to fix it once found he wouldnt eat the following week. Its hard but thats life. I would of asked which wire. If he said the battery conection I would of grumbled as well

Hi Somehow the Quick Reply box appeared today. The last so many days, I've been clicking on all the links I can find but can not get to this box. Any reason? Must be something I've overlooked. Any help on this.
Update on the electrical fault:
I agree it was probably difficult to find the loose wire, but still...
OK, now in the last few days the car has started stalling again. What I have noticed is that it persistently stalls when I make a 90 degree left turn at a moderate speed. There are 2 such turns on the way home and the engine stops at these turns quite often. Not always. And it does stall sometime on a straight road too.
But the left turn connection seems strong.
Any ideas?

No help on the quick reply box. I thought it was there all the time. With regards to the stalling issue. You paid for it ... It is now a warranty job for whatever that is worth. It still sounds like a loose something somewhere, perhaps the mechanic will be able to narrow it down a bit as he has apparently already fixed it once before. It is definitely still an electrical problem now ?
