There is someone on trademe selling 3.1 heads from time to time. They are a copy but from what Ive heard they are just as good. The 3.1s are known for head issues but nowhere near as bad as the famous 2lt toyota. Try local wreckers they always grab them off blown 3.1s as they are easy to sell.

I had heard that Segedin Truck & Auto Parts were importing these Chinese ones. Ph: 09 256 1120. Let us know how you get on.

i recently blew my 4JG2, over heated. so decided to swap another 4JG2 in. now i have an extra engine sitting in the workshop. am thinking of rebuilding it. the head is gone, and the piston lining as well. i think the pistons are gone as well. question is does the china made products ok for a spare engine? any idea how much will it cost to replace all these except for the block?

They apear to be good but you cant mix and match. The chinese ones chrome the rings instead of the linners. Much like conventional engines
