Hi All, I have purchased 94 Honda Jazz 3.1L TD and I think the diesel consumption is too high. But since this is my first MU and I can not find out what the consumption is I can not be sure.
It's a Auto and I get 400Km out of a 80L tank around the city, this works out to be 20L per 100KM. The car doesn't blow any smoke, I have installed new 2.5 inch exhaust, turbo is only 24 months old. I have purchased the car form our family friend who looked after it well but it was sitting in his garage for over 1 year with out being driven because he purchase a new car.
Since I'm not sure what the consumption should be I don't want to go ahead and replace injectors and diesel pump. Is it possible they could be faulty with out blowing any access smoke?
Any answers are appreciated.

It does sound very high .. 20L/100km ...
I have a MU with the 4JB1 (2.8 TD ) and I get around 10L/100km city driving..better on long trips .. ( i drove from Sydney to Brisbane ((Geebung)) 1200ish km's using about 105 litres of juice ) ...

i also have the 2.8td and average about 10L per 100. i have had the chance 2 take it on a trip yet so i dunno what she averages then. But i think my fuel gauge is was out as it says empty when ive used 55L but ive also done 550km by then. but i have piece of mind knowing it is an 83L tank so i know i can still go another 200K if need be

things depend a lot on driving style. If this is all urban driving with lots of sitting idling and rapid starts then it will be high but 20/100 is worrying If this was your first tank of gas it might not of been full at the start. Fill the tank drive 400k then note what it takes to fill again preferably at the same pump

Thanks for all your replies, Guy you are correct to say that the car is good on long drives. I took it to Fraser Island for 5 days and it was 10L/100KM on the freeway, which is great. However once I got back to the city the consumptions is back to 20L.
The car has done 240 000 but runs very smooth and doesn't blow any smoke. I think I will do the injectors first and if it doesn't fix it I might do the pump.
Any ideas what price the diesel pumps are?
Cheers all,

Not hard, it is an Auto set to overdrive with normal setting not power. It changes gears around 2 500 RPM. I don't really drive it hard.

Not a great deal of traffic jams, and lots of straight roads with little traffic lights. I do not go anywhere near the CBD, just in outer suburbs.

Good point, but yes it is locked at all times. Sound to me like there is definitely something wrong.
