Hi folks, Are the trims which go around the outside of the rear side windows really needed? Do the windows seal fine without them? Mine seem to, as its missing on one side. Has anyone had troubles. I thought maybe they were just cosmetic, if so I can do without them, and will take it off the other side, (its coming away anyway). Do they have a trim which runs along the top of the window on the roof? or is that just a channel? I'm only a recent MU owner. It was missing some bits on purchase and theres none around here to look at. Thanks Smithy

The cargo glass windows are fully sealed by themselves they only need trims for looks. I just removed both windows from a wreck so have found out first hand. By the way the top seal is about 100mm down from the top of the window so it will pay to give it a squirt from time to time to keep rubbish from building up in there.

Thanks Roga. I have now been running without the trims and just squirt the hose around to clear dirt and rubbish. No leaks.

v8smithy can u post some pics of what you mean as I think mine are also cracked and worn out and would be good to know if I don't need to bother replacing them.

I don't know how to post pics.... Its just the thin trim strips on the outside of the rear side windows. It really just seemed to smooth the gap between the window and the car body. One side was missing when I bought it and the other side was coming away so I took it off. It was just stuck on with adhesive like double sided tape moulded into the groove around the window. We've had 130mm of rain in the past couple of days, the MU lives outside, and no leaks.
