Hi all
Ive been told that if i get my leaf springs reset i can gain a tiny bit of lift along with udjusting my torsion bars to suit.
will this work & is it safe???
does any one know the price & someone in welly who can do this?? its for the 93 Mu

The general feedback is that the resetting does not last very long. The cost difference between resetting and changing to new leaves is not large.
Personally I would be using extended shackles if I did mine again as my back end is to stiff now with the heavy duty ones.

There ingam springs on hutt road that can reset them and add a leaf to get extra hight. Concessus tho is that they quicly return to current hight. You could also get hold of a second set of springs from a mu or bighorn and play with the selection of leaves for a better set. I have a spare set here you can have if you want. New Repco sell the maxtrac springs fullyequiped sell tjm etc plus many others. Also Rainbow springs in Rotorua have a good reputation for both reseting springs and makeing new ones

Ok thanks for the info.I was kinda looking for a zero budget lift so maybe thats not the way to go, il have to sit and think about that one

There are plenty of plans around for shackle lifts if you have reasonable engineering skills. My offer of the bighorn springs is still there if you want them. They were sagged on the bighorn but might be ok on a mu Or you could mix and match the spring pack. One thing to do before anything else is to measure fron the ground to the top of the wheel arch and post here along with your tyre size. A std Mu should be about 850mm. By the time youve fitted a moddest lift and slightly bigger tyres you should aim about 900 to 950 Or you can spend lots of money and head for this much at the sills

Thanks geeves & sorry i must have missed this reply.
il pass on the leaves (i think itll be too much for me to work out as im not that mechanically minded) but thanks again for the offer.
i was under the Mu doing the rear shakle bushes for the WOF and it was so easy to remove the shakles so i think il go along that path & get some extended ones... Once i can find a set at a good price (any suggestions??)
Also i did the steering box seal (piece of piss) so thanks for whoever wrote the workshop help file it was perfect. I did however notice some slight ozzing from the next seal down (under the plate with the 4 bolts) but it seems to have stopped,so il just have to keep my eye on that one

re shakles What part of town are you in The second leak might of been seepage along the metal from the real lkeak

G Guy motors in Hutt road might be able to source some ready made otherwise an engineering shop should be able to make. Three things to watch. They must have a cross brace for strength, You need to make sure that the nuts cant be over tightened or the bushes bind. Shackle lifts must be low volume certified before you can get a warrent (I know lots of people do have extended shackles and get warrents without cert but if they crash they may feel the full wrath of the powers that be. It would be irresponsible of this website to promote something dodgy or less than fully legal)
