Hi all, Im looking at buying a intercooler for my 2.8T D MU but just want to know what intercooler to get like if a 3.1T D will fit my MU or one from a bighorn  kane |

I think all Isuzu 2.8 and 3.1 coolers are the same, or interchangeable.
With my scoop kit, I got given the metal plate that bolts to intercooler and says "3.1D Intercooler" or something, fits onto my 2.8 replacement cooler.
Main difference I've noticed with 2.8 and 3.1 MU intercooler installs is that the 3.1 is much harder to do because the turbo can't be rotated, causing the need for custom piping

Yea I will go with a 2.8 I dont wonna do the custom piping. Sorry, I meant the install is harder when you are installing any intercooler onto the 3.1L engine. A 3.1 intercooler onto a 2.8 engine should be sweet as (with rotating the turbo housing). If I'm wrong, someone please correct!  |

you are correct. The intercoolers are fully interchangable although you might want the one with the correct motor size on it purely for athsetics. Its the turbo on all 3.1 engines and some 2.8s after 93 that can be an issue. If your worried about rotating the turbo post the ihi number off the side of the turbo and powertruck can cross reference it

comercial wreckers would probably expect 100-200 each but they come up regularly on trademe etc a lot cheaper even if the rest of the car is thrown in for free. Also you could try picapart in Auckland if your down that way.

Condition is tidy.Off a 200000km truck that ran a bearing due to no oil.Will do freight at $20 Thanks

Sounds good to me. I paid $65 for my bonnet scoop & rubber boot & brackets from a wrecker.
