My 2.8ltr Auto MU has recently started to use alot more fuel and has significantly lost power especially on the highway and towing. When ever i come to a slight incline on the motorway it loses speed from about 110 to about 85-90 and revs its tits off.
I used to get about 770 out of 68lts and now im barely getting 690 out of 68lts..
I have had the Truck for 2 years and have a K&N Air filter, Top Mount, running 15PSI, EGR's removed and plugged for about 1 yr. 2 weeks ago i had a 2.5" Mandrel Bent turbo back exhaust fitted however it didnt seem to make any difference at all.
Its not blowing any black smoke or using any oil etc. Have replaced fuel filter and do oil and filter changes every 5000kms.
i have tried to illiminate everything but still no luck.. Does anyone have any ideas?

sounds like the auto check the fluid level according to the manual and also check the colour of the fluid. It should be a bright pinkish red not dark red or worse brown. otherwise binding brakes but that would also show other symptoms where are you?

I use to have a similar problem many years ago when i owned a VL Commodore. In the vl it turned out the bands in the gearbox were slipping. I dont know if the MU gearboxes work in the same way but it may be worth looking into

I had this and it turned out to be a couple of sticky brake calipers, well worth checking the pistons and regreasing the sliders

Still worth jacking up each wheel in turn and giveing them a spin to be sure. If you have a lsd you need to lift both back wheels. A lot cheaper than an auto rebuild

Did the test... rear seems to be tight.. spins but takes alot of force.. Got my mate to bring his MU around and his is alot easier. His is manual, however both being in neutral shouldnt make a difference.
Time to pull off the rear tires and investigate the brakes..

if you have lsd that is a normal result.Try it with both wheels off the ground
