Hi, I am a British ex-pat living in Russia, 2000 kilometres south of Moscow and light-years away from any Isuzu advice. I have a 1999 Isuzu MU 3.0 litre turbo diesel which I purchased as a second-hand import into Cyprus before I imported it into Russia. I love the vehicle. The VIN is UES73EW4108809 My rear shock absorbers require replacement but no one here knows which shocks I should replace them with. The brand does not matter very much, I doubt I could get the better ones in Russia anyway, but I need to know the specification so that I may purchase the nearest ones available on the Russian market I have checked with Bilstein but their American site is unable to help at all, they never imported my vehicle into the USA and they say they have no information at all regarding my vehicle. Maybe a manufacturers part number would be a starting point, I could then get the specific details [length, fittings, load etc.] from off their website. Doing a Google search I am directed to the USA market in most instances and a myriad of emails I have written to mechanics, workshops and shock absorber suppliers have ALL ended in zilch! Could anyone please help me? Thanks, Jeff Gordon

do a google search for either KYB or Tokico. KYB are the aftermarket brand of choise for Jap cars and Tokico are the oem supplier for just about everything. You will need the model number from your current shock which you might have to remove your shock to find. Then send them this number and they should be able to match.

Many thanks for that but regarding the old shocks, they've gone long ago. My mechanic here in Russia fitted some Lada Niva shocks as an interim measure whilst I searched for the correct ones. I have now gone through 2 sets of Niva shocks, the old ones went to the rubbish dump months ago. I was hoping that some MU owner would provide me with some part number so that I could do as you suggested. Any MU owner out there willing to help? Regards, Jeff Gordon.

I did a Google search of KYB and Tokico as suggested but most hits are in the USA where my vehicle was never imported. Any Australian or New Zealand MU owners that would be willing to help me by providing the brand and part number of shocks fitted to their MU? Many thanks, Jeff Gordon.

I will try and get hold of a kyb book tomorrow. Your model is unlikely to be found in Aus due to the government changing the rules before they became available as imports. They are not common in NZ either but a guess would suggest your shocks should be the same as a coil spring Wizard (rodeo in usa 98 and later)
