Can't tell you exactly what piece of equipment, but best thing is take it to a diesel shop and they can do timing advance and fuel increase while you wait - about 30-60mins only. Took a friend with a non-electronic pump 3.1 to my diesel mechanic mate a week ago, and 45 mins later 10-15 more hp. V Quick and easiest way to do it. He did use a guage I but didn't take much notice of it.

Remember to tweak fuel delivery screw for extra diesel flow when you do pump timing. Adjust clockwise - inwards for more fuel - try 1/8 turn at first and smaller increments after that. After each screw tweak, start truck and get someone to rev to 3000rpm and hold it there for a second. Watch smoke. Adjust up to point it starts to blow solid black - then come back a tweak. Max increase on dyno is a tad before heavy black.
Electronic pumps need a little more attention to achieve advance in pump timing. What model truck and pump type do you have? Let us know how you get on.
