$119 US for that you could take your Tie rod off bash it into shape and replace it from the wreckers once you get home how many times? The tie rods are fairly well protected so you would be unlucky to hit them directly and I would rather bend a tie rod than the center arm which is a favorite thing to bend on Patrols

I have done two this year, the first took about 1 hour to get back on the track. Tha last happened 3 weeks ago & took about 1/2 hour for me they seem to be a soft point could do with some protection. The yellow things look the goods ;D

The one I did was very bent. I could only drive at about 20km/hr (about a kilometre to a better spot to deal with it). It took about an hour to straighten and we all thought it was going to break in the process! I got quoted $140ish for a secondhand replacement. I have heard of, but not seen, Isuzu tie rods breaking, either on impact or while being straightened. I liked these as they are bolt-on and don't require certification (probably).

I remeber when David bent his a few weeks ago at Lavuka.....it bent to a right angle shape, a full 90 degree bend. He used a piece of hollow pipe and the tailgate as the lever. The arm still seems to work fine, however as he said...he did bent it again since

I too was there when Dave did his and let just say it was BENT 90 degrees. The Mu could not even be driven anywhere, luckily the AIR UP lift was there and boys worked quickly, racing against the fading light. Without the tools, know how and leverage, the Mu would have had to be towed. I believe there are photos of the bent rod and bush fixing,..frank? Definite sound like it’s a problem area if you're into the harder 4wding. Tad pricey but so would a towing a MU 20-100kms. I reckon it would be the goods if it really does the job.
My 2 cents ?

Justin W, Picked up a complete tie rod with newish ends for $20.00 when i got the steering box. Spoke to a suspension specialists about fabing up some crome molly ones, his thoughts were good idea but if you hit somthing with them they would crack rather than bend. With that the yellow things would offer good protection. or maybe i should pick a different line Dave
