Hi there everyone, just need some info on what manual gearbox to use when swaping the auto to a manual. Its a 1994 SWB Bighorn 4gj2 motor. Is the MU gearbox in the 2.8td the same. I know I will need to change: the rear gearbox member, driveshaft, flywheel, pedel box clutch master cylinder anything else?
Thanks for any help.

Dont know if anyone else has done that swap. You have most things covered but expect a suprise or 2 on the way. I know that the manual mu crossmember is different to the 89 bighorn crossmember but easily adapted To go to the 94 could be just as easy but maybe not. I belive the bellhousings are the same but the 3.1 runs a bigger clutch. To reduce the risk of problems I would try and get a gearbox from a 3.1 or even keep the auto

Thanks for the info. Guess I will find when it comes to doing the job. If I do go ahead with it I will post it up with some photos.

im in the middle of doing this right now. I have a 4jb1 auto and the chassey mounts for the crossmembers are different. The auto one is about 180mm further rear than the manual one. I have made a new cross memeber that is welded to the orginal auto one. There is no way that the manual crossmember can be bolted to the car. otherwise everything else goes together easily. I am now just have trouble sorting out the wiring as it wont start now because the auto is removed.
