hey guys just wondering what is a good heavy duty clutch to use in a 3.1 Mu?. I did the clutch 2 years ago but was out 4wdin yesterday and the thing started slipping after a river crossing. It already had a upgraded clutch in it but still it dosent seem to be holding up. Anyone got any recomendations?

May not be worn out but might have water in clutch housing. See how it goes in next week and if necessary drill small hole at bottom of clutch housing which will allow any water to drain out. In the past we've drilled about a 5mm hole and filled it with a removeable bolt with copper washer.

Hi jarrad - I think the loss of power was due to a bad batch of fuel from BP. As soon as I put in the next lot from Challenge it was significantly better. Truck going well - needs full size 63mm freeflow exhaust and snorkel and filter to optimize airflow but a nice performer at this stage, and surprising me offroad.

Its at the clutch place at the moment they are trying to figure out something different to withstand more punishment hopefully should have it up and running again at the end of the week. Is your mate still selling those rear lockers im really keen on purchasin one now. i'm also lookin at upgrading my rear leaf springs to they are sagging a tad in the rear jarrad

If it killed a clutch in 2 years there must be something wrong. When the clutch was done on mine there was a note with the clutch about a couple of alignment dowels in the bellhousing. These are meant to center the gearbox to the engine but are easily pushed back so they dont work. The clutch supplier would check any warrentee returns for evidence of this happening before honering a claim. If the cultch is even only a little off center it will wear very fast

when i put the clutch in myself i made sure that the dowels had lined up with the bellhousing i adjust thed clutch as per what they told me did everything by the book. When i took it down today to the clutch place they told me that the springs in the pressure plate had lost there tension so therefor it wasnt putting enough pre load on the flywheel which was causing it to slip under load. i would have thought i would have got alot more than 2 years running out of it. Then again its putting out alot more torque than a standard mu maybe its the torque thats killing it

sounds like bad springs in the pressure plate and a warrantee repair

Hey guys got my clutch problems sorted i've now got a heavy duty holden rodeo clutch kit in my 3.1 mu. Apparently the Aussie spec rodeo has a much better clutch in them the clutch disc has much stronger springs and the pressure plate is really heavy duty. I compared it to the old one that came out of it and its a huge difference. Has anyone else run this combination?
