Hi all, I have a 91 MU 4JB1-T with the current mods: Boost Gauge, Manual Boost Controller 15PSI, Oil Catch Can, K&N Pod, Removed EGRs, K&N engine breather, T M intercooler, Electric fan. And still think I dont have the power I want. I dont want to spend much money as im saveing for a set of mud grips. Im going to do a fuel advance but not to sure where the screw is on the pump. But after that it only a little more power. I just want the power to be there when I need it. What can I do kane

easy power comes from a snorkle and 2.5 inch exhaust. I wouldnt increase fuel without the exhaust as you risk frying the turbo and or head. To give an idea what I mean head cracking on the famous 2lt Toyota almost stops when you fit a bigger exhaust. Whats a kn engine breather?

Whats a k&n engine breather? It stops oil fumes runing though the engine so no more oil in the air intake.

Yes - do the 2.5" bigbore ex turbo - good gain in low down grunt/torque. And if you want cheaper performance increases first - go to a good diesel mechanic and ask him to advance the pump timing, and increase the fuel delivery with screw on the pump right up to point of heavy black smoke, then backing it off a tad. This only takes 45 mins or so and will give you more than what you've gained so far.
Without improving airflow (bigbore and snorkel) and fuel flow (pump timing and fuel increase), your K&N filter and boost guage will not do much.

I still recon its not a good idea to play with the fuel when you still have a std exhaust. More fuel means more heat More heat means more wear. Big bore gets rid of that heat. Opening up the gas flow also gives quite meaningful gains on its own. If the kn breather is replacing the oil filler cap It will have to go when the snorkle is fitted. No point getting clean dry air to the intake when water can get into the sump via this breather. Ive seen a couple of engines kumured by water getting into the sump.

Remember putting mud tyres on will affect on road performance in a negative way.

Remember putting mud tyres on will affect on road performance in a negative way. I will never use mud grips for on road only to get where I need to go offroading. then I will put my ATs back on at home.

Whats a kn engine breather? wow! interesting, one of the most common excuse on why people here don't use much of this engine, especiallly the 1kz-te,every workshop has a few of these heads lying around...
