If you are replacing your boots I wouldnt be using Repco items. I am about to replace all the cv boots on my Bighorn (even though they are not split yet) with Meca Tech replacements. They are about $45nz/pair and are far superior to anything I have seen before.

Dave,
Whats the go with these MECA TECH CV boots, are they a new brand or something special?? New material? Whats the go, why would you not buy Repco boots if the Meca ones are just rubber too?? Is it purely cost? Whats superior about them? Matt.

They are made of a new rubber compound which gives these a HUGE amount of stretch and extra strength. These are designed so that with a proper tool, you can remove the cv from the hub on your truck and stretch the new boots on so you dont have to disassemble the whole thing.
I have used these on my old Surf, and never tore one, where I had previously been replacing them every 3 months.
I have seen the small end of these boots be stretched to beyond the size the the large end, and show no signs of tearing or distortion. I am getting mine locally, which are being shipped from Oz for a local shop (they have 600 pair ordered). The yanks seem to like them also.
Click on the DEMO for a rough idea of how much these stretch.http://www.mecatech.com/soufflet_en.htm#

For anyone interested in the MecaTech UNKILLABLE CV boots, here is the Australian Dist and his reply to my questions about the boots!!
Enjoy! Matt.
Hi Matt Thank you for your enquiry. I shall be happy to put some information together for the website, what's the URL? I'll then go and have a look to see what would be appropriate to send you.
In the meantime to answer some of your enquiry:
Our CV Boots are made of a material which does not split and perish like the originals they are used to replace. We offer a lifetime guarantee to this effect. This feature alone makes fitting our boots very desirable. Fit once and forget.
The cost of the boots is comparable to most and quite often much cheaper than the original equipment. They start at $33 each including GST. Each Kit comes with stainless steel straps, CV Grease and quick fitting lube. They can be supplied cheaper in larger quantities of course.
They can be fitted in the conventional manner or quick fitted using our tapered cone. This applies to both inner and outer CV boots, which quite often saves a lot of time and effort by not having to remove the shaft from the gearbox etc. We supply a CD Rom showing the quick fitting method. The fitting cone is $35 inc GST.
The CV Boots have a Universal fitting range. The Pop CV Boot fits up to 100mm diameter joint. This should be sufficient for the MU/Rodeo. Let me know if its otherwise.
We also have a larger Universal CV Boot which accommodates up to 125mm diameter, but this is most often used for inner cv joints which incorporate a 3 pronged moulded rubber section.
The only other tool you may need is a strap fitting tool for the stainless steel straps. They can be fitted without it, using pliers and a screwdriver. Our tool is only $31 inc GST.
Distribution is exclusively from our Head Office in Melbourne to anywhere in Australia.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
Kind Regards
Mark Culley

I installed a pair of boots that I got from Mark at Mecatech. The job took about 2 hrs for one side. That included removing the rotor wheel bearings for a regrease and back seal replacement. The u-fix-it instructions are very good. Cheers Pete

Hey Dave where did you order your ones from?? and has anyone else in kiwi land managed to get hold of a set of these boots for their truck? Since I mentioned them at work I have had several enquiries from people keen to replace their cv boots with this type. If there is anyone who wants some maybe we can get a bulk order direct from aussie. Let me know

Garth, the guys at GT Performance (03 5791033) here in Blenheim ordered 1000 of them, so they should have them in stock by now. Let me know if you would like me to check out prices/freight etc as I think the shipping charges were quite expensive from oz, thats why they did a bulk order. By the way, let me know if you are still interested in the bearing seals, been a bit slack lately and completely forgot to get in touch with you Dave

Hey guys,
How do you feel your boots are holding up? I need to replace my standard ones, so thought I'd give these a go.
Cheers

I tried one of these boots and spiked it with somthing. Dont know what it was or if it would of killed a std boot as well. Strange looking at a boot with a tear across the corrigations instead of along them. Basicalic tore the side out of the boot. I have gone back to std
