does anyone know if a 3.1 starter motor fits into a 2,8 motor

i have just swapped my 3.1 starter motor into my 2,8 so if buying a 2nd hand one you do get a bit more choice

i took the starter motor out of my94 bighorn , put it in my 90 2.8 bighorn , started it several times it worked fine i then swapped them back again
