OK, I have done a 2 inch body lift on my MU and the rubber boot the 2 sticks poke through doesn't have the necessary movement now to allow shifting without it being pulled off from the tranny tunnel.. it's a manual MU
What mods or replacements have people done to fix this issue?

You have to bend it alittle, some have used heat and others used a BIG hammer.
Mine is Auto so I didn't have issues with the manual stick but we did have to bend the 4X4 stick and also we didn't re-install the rubber properly as it too will restrick the 4x4 stick.
Still after all that My 4x4 stick does at times pop out of High 4wd into 2wd went the truck was pushing through hard, soft bumpy sand.

To bend my gear stick I cut a notch bent it and then welded it up worked very well.

I cut and extended the opening the stick comes up through from the gearbox back about an inch and a half, then pock riveted a small bit of tin over the front part of the opening, so the boot fitted back in as normal.

the stick itself is fine ... it's the boot .. I cut the rubber boot to allow the "folds" to move down a bit further to get 2nd,4th and reverse ... works fine.. but it will allow water/mud/etc through aswell as gearbox noise .. ..
I haven't looked at the 4x4 stick yet , but I suspect that it will have issues with staying in 4H and shifting to 4L , due to the "folds" bunching up ..

Yeah had the same problem with the 4x4 stick not having enough movement so i cut the rubber boot and then bought this flexy flashing from a plumbing shop they come in different sizes [and yes i also bent the stick] it has aluminium insert in the base which you can bend and shape then pop rivet to the tunnel works well keeps mud and fumes out

although i "cut/bent/welded" my gear lever I still had trouble staying in 2nd gear. After removing the rubber boot, I filed a piece of the bodywork out of the corner and then replaced the boot. No more jumping out of gear due to "rubber build-up". ..and it doesn't leak

I bent my gear stick. It is harder than before to get into second but it does not jump out.

bending my gear stick would require a big deal of heat and/or a machine press ... it's 3 inches thick .. it's not the factory stick ... I broke that one a month after I got the MU ..
either way .. I'm working on a new boot made from a sheet of 5 mm rubber and a few of the flexibents daisy mentioned ..

hey mate, i cut and extended me gearstick, dont need to touch the stubby lever, all i did to stop the boot from coming off was slice it a bit at the top of the boot and lower it down the gearstick and cable tied it. no problems at all, doesnt leak either
