It's time for an injector overhaul... I dropped my spare set off at one place and they said 2 of the 4 were duff and needed a complete working over at about $200 each.... and if I do them all... ouch...
So what have others found? get new ones at similar price? or has someone a good supplier. (read not holden at mega $$$)

Have you priced them at Holden? the way there prices seem to work you might be suprised but who knows. I was quoted a little more than that for mine but a triple dose of magic cleaner stopped them smoking again for now Otherwise try and find a low mileage wreck.

Hi guythorn, You can only clean the tips of them, but be carefull if you do because they have very fine holes that the fuel jets out of. They might have some carbon build up over the tips....maybe. You have to take them apart to clean them/ overhaul them and thats why they cost so much to do. As for the "magic cleaner" I think it's a injector cleaner that you put in your fuel tank???

The magic cleaner is injector cleaner. I use the Nulon one but there are many others on the market and all are nearly identical in there makeup. If this doesnt work diesel specialists have a process called carbon clean that will fix a lot of ills but its nearly 200 bucks. If this doesnt work though new injector tips at James' price is the only other way I have been told the 4jb1 injectors are good for 200000km but I know of several with far more than this on them

Hi James - gave you a call but you're off somewhere. Still watching the weather, and a wander on the Waipara might be good idea for the group in next couple of weeks. 164 cumecs recently but down to normal now and riverbed should be hardening up. Be a few new holes and soft bits so you go first and we will all be happy...
Spoke to my cobber who is workshop boss for diesel services and he said $600-1000 for your injector job depending on how many tips need replacing. You could save $130 or so by taking them out and refitting them yourself. Said the 4JB1 injectors take a little time because they have a double spring system??, but are better injectors and last alot longer than the later indirect motor ones.
Give me a call in the next week and we'll look at an outing somewhere - lambing should be over at annavale soon but its steep and will have to be very dry. Waipara would be good next trip - just check your insurances first..
It would be rude to mention James drowned my truck in the river last time we were there, so I won't of course mention this..
Mike
