I have a 92 Mu 2.8TD and am a bit of a novice in DIY maintenance and repairs and was wondering if anyone could help me out with a couple of problems I have at the moment: 1. Drivers side window wont go up or down and is stuck half way. Is there any way to wind it up ? and how can i tell if the switch is broken or the motor? 2. Heater/cooler shorts out fuse. Is there anything I can do or will I have to visit and auto-electrician? 3. Interior light does not work. Bulb is all good, I did check that, just in case you thought I was a true novice. Cheers if you can lend any advice.

1: pop the switch out of the door handle and short out two of the leads.. the window will either go up or down.. (( I'll check out my one and see what colors are for up /down, will edit this in a bit)) 2: not sure on this.. is probably an auto-elec job.. 3: check the 2 black "sliding switches" on the door frames , just under(?) the door catch .. sliding them dack and forth a few times .. the contacters inside them may be oxidised or covered in dust/dirt/etc and may need a clean .. I'll let Greeves/Alan have his 2 cents as he's the guru

Never heard of a window motor failing although there have been a couple that have siezed the cable. 98 out of 100 window failures are the switch which can be cleaned if you know enough bad words (very fiddly) The rocker also breaks on the Mu switches which means replacement of the most expensive switch you will ever buy Heater fan just need to work it through with a meter no easy answer but if your not competant with electrics it might be better to visit the sparky interia light as above although my money is on either a door switch or the switch in the unit

Chermside.
I managed to get the interior light to work. was a dirty conection and just needed some contact cleaner. cheers. Window is still no good. I got my hands of a voltage reader and the swich is working fine. so i reckon it is the motor, or could it be the cable? what should i do from here? can i localise the problem any more? havent touch the heater. Thanks for your help.

2. Heater/cooler shorts out fuse. Is there anything I can do or will I have to visit and auto-electrician? i had a problem with mine but its the 3.1 maybe the same inside though, if you can get access to the airbox behind the glove box (you maybe able to do it with the glovebox in place) stick you fingers into the cabin sucky vent, im using very tecnical words here so bear with me, if you move the vent slider from outside to inside you will hear the flap open inside the vent, with you fingers inside the vent try to feel the fans impeller and see if its seized. mine was and it didnt blow a fuse it just melted the resistor pack instead but even though on the resistor pack it says do not fix i did and it works fine, ive now also fixed this problem in our work ute and my brother car. have a look here this may help clubisuzu.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=Electical&action=display&thread=1837

Cheers for your help everyone.
I was able to get behind the glovebox and clean out the heater and replaced the fuse. And I got working but then I tried it again a couple days later and it blew again. More suggestions?
Window still not working.
Thanks again for your tips.
