I recently tried to do a service by myself and I hint a SNAG, that DAM oil filter? ? The bloodly thing will not come out. I have changed the oil but I can't get the bloodly oil filter off. Is it OK to leave the oil fliter in for another 5,000kms with new oil?

Have left filter on also once when couldn't get old one off - didn't harm truck but it's not a great option. Might not do obvious damage tomorrow, but I'd keep trying to get it off with claws etc. as clean oil plus good filtration is what helps gives these diesels their longevity. Some one with a 3.1 could help you here.
How do you find offroad performance with the addition of rear lokka after running just a front one? How do you find it onroad with the mu - any probs?

I have run Sakura and Ryco filters for 10,000 without a problem before. I wouldnt make a habit of it, but they or the oil didnt appear any different. Doing 5k changes regularly would help the odd run out to 10k. My 4JG2 manual says 10k for oil filters anyway. For me it is habitual to turf them when doing the oil at 5k.

manual for the 2.8 quotes 15k for the filter. Mine has has always had its filter at 10k without issue now at 200k I have a filter wrench consisting of a metal clamping ring on a handle that will loosen any filter but you just about need an extra set of knuckles on each hand to use it. (can only turn 5 degrees before it hits something) You can borrow it if you want to come and collect it (wellington)

Thanks all for your help and replies, I think I will try again with different set of clamps (only paid $10 for my current one and paid $10 more for a strap like version) so hopefully I get that DARN thing off. Thank geeves for the offer but I really should find a set that I can keep,.....plus pick up is out of my way,....LOL Mudgrip, I haven't really hit the tracks yet as my 33" still rub and I'm a touch worried about it, plus no time. ON sand I have noticed small difference but I yet to push it and get bogged but its pushing through the soft stuff easier. On road its been brilliant, no problems or weirdness or lock up when cornering etc. Felt like I bit extra as both wheels are working evenly. Its just the clicking noise is load when doing slow turns and parking, people wonder whats wrong with the car,....but its normal. For more info on my rear autolocker. clubisuzu.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=Justabout&action=display&thread=2634thanks all

I find this on a short extension bar most helpful when the filter gets sticky.

Those ones work well but are expensive. Also if you have an intercooler you would need 2 universals to get it in the gap. I think Mr Isuzu forgot that filters need changing every now and then
