Just one switch left that works..... can anyone tell me where I can get the some new switches "the thing you touch to put the window up and down" that is all the problem with these window electrics. Is there away that we can replace this "switch" with a say ON/Off switch? I believe that it only works on positive..battery being turned off and on. Any help would be really appreciated thanks...getting bloody hot now in Aus and hate using the aircond if i can help it.
Cheers Bruce

You can replace the "push button" mechs with some from Dick Smith \ local electronics store .. all they are , are 2 position momentery on switches .. like this that Blackpumpkin did.. I'm half tempted to ask someone from NZ to see if they can source a few 2nd hand door switches and send them over to me , since there is a LOT more MU's in NZ than here in AUS .. I have a vague idea that the guys in NZ can get *new* switches .. if so .. get them to send my a few new ones .. lol ..

Has anyone got a photo of the under side of Blackpumpkins switch? Dave I checked out the one for the 98 Rodeo and the only way is to find a wrecked one which will probably be nearly impossible.

All I have had to replace is the rocker switch, the thing you touch to lower and raise and the little U shaped thing inside it. So guys maybe there is some where in NZ where we can get them.

I brought two switches today at Dickies same as the one in the photo, about $7 each. I have a spare drives side whole set up, so I have one to play with. The switch I brought has 6 lugs, but all I can manage it to do is either go down or up, not both, so yes would be nice to see the under side of Blackpumpkins to see how he has wired it up.

I bought the whole drivers side part from www.truckbits.co.nz brand new. Great company to deal with I found, very helpful. No probs in freighting to oz. They had a better price for a new one than an aussie company wanted for a recon one!

Hey guys, I priced around for a replacement switch set up in nz and it was about $150 - 170?? I've done the dick smith conversion, and i'm pretty sure i did power both sides of the switch as the earth is at the motor end. It was a mission and took me about 6 hours to get both sides working right. apart from wearing out a switch i've never had any problems.
One thing to be aware of though, if for whatever reason the drives side and passengers side switches are activated but in different directions it will blow the fuse.

Hi Mulover, would it be possible to take a photo of the under side as I am having trouble getting mine to work. I have replaced the passenger side with a Dickies and it work ok with the old setup on the drivers side, but when I install the two new ones nothing will work, so must have the wiring ass up I think.

Those of you in Aussie looking for switches, email me what you want and I'll see what I can do. Let me know which switch, Vehicle model, year etc and I'll see what I can find

hey Bruce, I would if i could but the mu's in Invercargill, NZ and i'm in Mackay, QLD. It took me a while to get them to work, i think i ended up putting power to all 4 of the poles. I think (very hard!!!!) that there is a wire that supplies power to the passenger side as well that needs to be hooked up in someway. (Thats really helpfull i know) I had to change the wires on the passengers side too to get power to the switch after changing the drivers side. Please note: I accept no responsiblaty for any damage, loss or other that arrises from you doing anything i suggest!!!!!

No worries mate it has a circuit breaker which is handy if I short it out. Will have to wait till I have some time to muck about with it, think the idea is to sort the color coding going to switch first.
