I saw an ad yesterday for the Isuzu D-max in the paper and thought I'd have to look it up. isuzuute.com.au/Looks like they are in competition with the Holden Colorado... What do we think. I like the D-max better ;D

Yes they are Alan but they have an ISUZU emblem on the front grille. They are both built in Thailand but at different factories, and I believe Holden will not be getting them from the end of next year. Hear they will be sourcing some thing from the States.

IF...... general motors is still going. News today says they're loosing 2.5M a month. You can only do that for so long.

When it gets too bad they sell a profitable bit just like Rover group did in the UK They sold Landrover to BMW who couldnt fix it so sold it again to Tata. Tata still have lots of money and weve seen there utes Can you imagine a Tata Dmax or Colarado

I read another article on this and the reason Holden changed the name is because Isuzu won't let em use Rodeo anymore.
Isuzu Ute is a different company to Isuzu Trucks, they have gone out on there own. I would have thought it would be easier to just add them to the truck lineup...
I suppose we'll see if they do well, I think they will need to have the space cab as well in the lineup.

We have been having these in South Africa since 2004. They are a far cry from the old Isuzus we have had with vastly improved comfort and very low NVH levels. It is very evident in the ride that they are sitting on American underpinnings. The only exception is that the they weigh almost 300kgs than the old ones and the old 4JH1TC engine struggled to keep up pace on uphills and I understand that the new common rail 3.0 diesel is a bomb at 120 kW.

Yeah it's a pity we all think about the Japanese made Isuzu's models when thinking about the new Thailand ones, they should be good... but who knows where they will go from here.. not saying they are bad but maybe not as good as the old ones yet, time will tell.

THe other interesting thing about the Isuzu utes on sale here in Oz is that importer is part owned by Mitsubishi. You never really know what you are buying into these days. Another other thing I noticed was the diffeence in price bewteen Isuzu and Holden for esentially the same thing - a dual-cab cab-chassis is about $38,000 from Isuzu and $42,000 from GMH

The hapanese car industry is very incestuous. Isuzu make some engines for Nissan and sell some of there product as Honda. Toyota has sold rebadged chevys as toyotas and had its camery rebadged as holden.
