I am almost finished putting back together my 4jg2 engine after replacing the rings. Anyone got any advice on bleeding the fuel lines? Thanks Ken

Fisrt, open the bleed screw/bolt on the fuel filter. Looks like a M10 bolt. Note, open, not remove, just a turn or two. Have plenty of rags and an Ice cream container underneath. The rags to catch the squirts.... then work the pump on top of the filter slowly, to clear all the air out... no bubbles... you will most likely under do this than over do it.... so don't hold back... then when that is all good close the bleed. Then do the same to the bolt/bleep screw at the back of the injector (on the 4JB1 anyway). it's right in the center rear, in the middle of all the injectors lines as they go into the back off the injector... yep the one you can't really see and can't get to... then pump away again for some time even after striking fuel.... you may need to do it all over again if it run rough... but it will improve.
Let us know how you get on
Cheers,
James

Thanks for that James. The filter was easy to bleed but the injector bleed did not produce any fuel even after prolonged pumping. However the pump seemed tighten up after a while. After a few attempts the engine burst into life and seems to be going well. Ken

Good to hear... it can be a pain sometimes, but you got there... so does it run nice? or still running it in? Tram Road is good for running in and engine or rings, nice long straight road for smooth steady running

Well it is finished (I hope). Sounds OK to me. I have left the oil catch can off. I think a little bit of oil fumes going into the engine won't do any harm. It will just be like upper cylinder lubricant !!!Now to get the caravan ready. Ken
