Hi Darrin, first up was it blowing any smoke before you had the new turbo? Check that all the hoses are done up properly including the little one coming from the injector pump to the core between the turbo and the intake manifold. And was it a new turbo? Most of these situations happen because of to much fueling and not enough air. Hope this is of some help.
Cheers Bruce

Most temp guages do sit at about 1/4 on the guage As long as it gets to this in about 15 min driving its probably not a problem A replacment thermostat is cheap and easy to change if not happy but I dont think there is an issue Black smoke. Depending on how much this might be normal for a diesel. If this is your first diesel car get someone else who has owned a non common rail diesel for some time to give a second opinion on this. If its ok hot then this might be normal
