THIS WAS POSTED ON ANOTHER FORUM BY ME. LOOKING FOR AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE.
Hi all. I had my timing belt and injectors (couldn't even reco them) replaced a couple of weeks ago by a normal car mechanic that works on everything under the sun. I have noticed the MU sounds tighter but shakes a bit more at idle now, economy seems similar at this stage too.
Also, full boost comes on a couple hundred RPM later than before, just like it did before the 2.5" mandrel exhaust. My MU has the 3.1.
A mate had his MU injectors done a few years back at a diesel specialist place and I remember the bloke saying that he adjusted the tappets. Also, having watched xxxxxx with the new engine in xxxxx on the video and the installer bloke talking about tappets and adjusting them, it reminded me about my mates tappets.
A few things then... Is it worth getting the tappets adjusted? How much should it cost and will the shakes reduce? Can damage occur in the long term if nothing done? Does it affect economy?
Cheers and thanks for your help.

Book says adjust tappets every 20000km Now my wagon has reached 200000km I should probably do them for the first time ever. The book says check the injector timing every 10000km as well. As tappets wear the gap increases resulting in more noise and less power but no real damage. It might be the cause of the vibration but unlikely. When the injectors were done he probably reset the timing and flow to standard or there is still some air in the system Tappet adjustment should take less than an hour although a top mount intercooler does add a few steps to get it out of the way
