Just finished doing the cv boots on the farm quad. Right side had a split about 2 weeks ago and went fairly well. It took about an hour as I was feeling my way. Pretty easy tip bike on side, (can't do that with ute!) take the nut of the hub spline split the ball joints lift the hub off then the halfshaft has a plunge cv same as isuzu then do same as isuzu. Peice of cake but messy. Ill do the other one after tea this ones been clicking on the outer side for about a month Use nitrile gloves this time (see learn as we go) and the fun begins. I take the hub cover off and no split pin through the castle nut on the spline first hint. Use a breaker bar to get the nut off the whole way - the other one wound off with my fingers. Theres the split pin or whats left of it no wonder ther wasnt a good one in there. Get needle nose pliers for split pins on ball joints - put back no pins again. Glad a ball joint didn't let go - that could have been messy. The inner boot is in place but no band on it but a bit of wire poking out from under it. Did someone use a bit of soft wire to hold the boot on no thats the wire clip from the cv joint. This joint didnt just pull apart, I had to use a hammer. There wasnt a trace of gease in it just mud and rust. I cleaned the crap of it and picked up the balls of the floor. I had to use the grease to hold them in when I put it together. Its amazing what a cv joint can take Ive had the bike 2 and 1/2 years (bought second hand) and that joint hasnt skweaked clicked or cluncked the outer one that was clicking was still greased. All went together but that main hub nut!! And I thought I was dodgy
