Hi all, I thought I would mention this trick to remove most of the friction resistance in a leaf spring.
You can get a product called VHT Teflon, Its like plastic but very hard. Get lengths of it cut to fit between the spring leaves, ( the full length and width of each leaf). It only needs to be about 2 mm thick and you can get it now with self lubrication. ( the lube is impregnated in the teflon)
I think Old Man Emu used it in their spring packs at some stage, not sure if they still do.
We use it at work as wear strips on varios types of machinary and its amazing stuff.
