I thought some one else may have struck a similar problem to me in the past, so I will try to explain it as best as I can, as it was over very quickly, and hasn't done it again since.
I was traveling over the Xmas/New Year holidays, not towing, but had a reasonable amount of gear in the back, along with my wife and 3 kids on board.
My 1993 3.1 Bighorn ran like a charm for the first 1000 k's but on the return trip, on a flat winding piece of road in the middle of no where, it decided to have a blip.
The noise sounded like a plastic fan blade hitting some thing solid, or a pinking noise for the old school on here, which lasted for about 2 seconds max.
I looked behind me after it stopped to see if I had possibly run over something, as the noise came and went so quick, it was hard to know initially what it was, and found a noticeable cloud of blue smoke hanging over the spot where this had happened.
There was no drop/surge in performance, it just went blip and carried on?
My thought was a gulp of oil must have bypassed some where? but with it being a first time, and not since, it's a little hard to identify further than that.
The truck has a warranty on it, but as you would expect it's due to run out in about a month or so, so sods law would dictate that it will cack itself just after that, if it's going to!
Anyone had a similar issue, that can possibly point me closer to the cause, so I can get it sorted before the warranty runs out?
It's on about 125000 K's with out any know rebuild, had cam belt and tensioners done at 100000.

Check for oil in your intake It can pool in the intercooler and as you went round a corner spill into the inlet but this would take a fair bit of oil. It also doesn't really explain the knocking noise very well. I would be seeing your warranty agent and telling them its happened several times and get them to check even if only for piece of mind
