I'm selling this truck - any takers?
'96 Wizard 4JG2 auto 127k kms (timing belt changed at 100k)
Last night I hopped in, started the truck and had some indicator lights stay lit. I also had ZERO power to the heat/ac controls. The truck runs just fine. One battery is new, the second could use replacing. Starting is a hint weak (it's also mid winter here in northern Japan and super cold!)
Indicator lights on dash:
- 4wd indicator - Battery indicator - Filter indicator - T-Belt indicator
Again, no power whatsoever to AC/heat controls (it's freezing here!).
I pulled fuses in the cabin, all good.
I pulled fuses under hood, all good.
I did not test relays there under hood.
Where do I need to look?? I can't find my Bighorn manual
I'm literally selling my truck now. We're moving and the thing is on the for sale boards. Ain't that the luck? I want to push this thing in the ocean and be done with it.

Aww freakazoid - other threads here indicate its possibly the alt or the relay How can I pinpoint which? I have a voltmeter. Just what I need, another expensive repair (I just got a full brake job). Maybe this time they'll take me to dinner and get me drunk first.

Sounds like alternator but its quite young and low millage and the main killer of alternators is muddy water which from memory your truck hasnt seen a lot of. If the alternator fails 9 times out of 10 it kills the relay but when this happens the lights go out (not sure if heater fan starts working though) It may be just brushes but could be the whole thing. Good luck. If your not competant with these things best visit an auto electrician

Havnt played with a wizard, but on all Isuzus I have played around with the heater fan relay is switched by getting power from the alternator. Same with the lights, mine all come on when I go through deep water (very pretty too Sounds like there is no electricity getting out of you alternator, so either it is stuffed or you have a wiring fault

Yeah, truck is pretty much a daily driver and mileage is just getting started. The only mud I go through out here is rough puddles in the dirt road. Thanks for the ideaers I think I'm just taking it in to the shop so I can get it out of the way pretty quick (and its cold outside). I looked at it today but caved pretty quick. I did find the manual I was looking for though. This reminds me of the last time an alt went out. One hot summer afternoon mom's Chevy Tahoe got stranded with a busted alternator, I hop out, grab my tools and get to work. There I was replacing the thing and this interested onlooker hit my mom up for my number Ummm yeah, I'm elbow deep and *** high in the engine bay and the best thing this guy could think of was getting my number. Gimme a break! Oh wouldn't you know this afternoon I had a guy call inquiring about the truck for sale.
