Have just noticed a groink groink noise from right rear wheel when doing tighter righthand turns. It is a wheel bearing sound but only occurs when turning - not when running straight. Popped up rear wheels and there is a bit of play in right rear wheel but not alot. Little bit of play in left wheel also - less - but no noise there.
Sounds like a wheel bearing - perhaps on way out? Question is are the rear bearings adjustable at all, and if not, which rear bearings would like be the cause. And what are part numbers for the likely offenders - the bearing and oil seal that goes with it.
Or diff issue? - its a lsd but this doesn't sound like the usual lsd rumble on turning.

Many thanks - Mike.

The outer bearing is pressed onto the axle the inner one is inside the diff somewhere. An almost quick test would be to remove calipers and discks then undo the 4 bolts holding the half shafts in and swap them over. See if the noise goes to the other side. You could give the bearing a spin while the half shaft is out. You need a press to change the bearing so it might be a walk to the local garage half shaft in hand. Bearing numbers are on the main site

Thanks for that - had diesel mechanic cobber over tonight to check bearing movement and he also didn't find excessive movement. It is possible the noise is coming from newish pads not bedded in properly or caliper a bit too tight. Will keep eye on it.

I've had a similar noise in my Mu since the day I got it. I think that it is brake pad related. Doesn't seem to be an issue though as I've done about 170,000ks with it making this noise periodically, and like Mudgrip, only on tight right handers. It is a similar noise as my rear brakes make in reverse when cold.

Thanks for thought turnturn - does sound like mine. Will lube the rear springs for a start and see if that fixes it - isolate the bushes issue. Seems a fairly common quirk!
