Anyone fitted an alloy radiator to their MU? I know Witchdoctor did quite some time ago, so if some one else has one I would like to know price and where to get one and are they a better bet than the plastic ones. I read with interest on another forum where a Jackaroo plastic rad top tank just fell apart, not a good look if your in the middle of no where, that is if your engine survives that is.

Ive seen a plastic top split on a nissan pulsar with fairly catastrophic results. It was half way up the Treble Cone skifiels road on a 35C day middle of summer. I towed them to the next corner so they could park up and turn round and gave them my bottles of water. They wernt there when we came back down. The alloy radiator in the work corolla still has plastic top and bottom so dont know how much this helps. Radiator specialist might be the best advice

Thanks Alan, I see alloy rad on e.bay for sale with alloy top and bottom tanks. Just wandering how to fit one as well, as the MUs have the funny curved thing on the top stopping them from going up wards, suppose just make up one to fit an alloy tank.

The plastic ones get brittle after time and just fall apart, so I have read. Plus rads will not last for ever and from my research alloy is better and cheaper. A replacement rad for an MU is around $600 a alloy on E.Bay an alloy around $300.

The mu/Frontera have a different radiator to the 92/98 Bighorn/Jackeroo. The Mu shares the radiator with the earlier Bighorn which Ive only ever seen with brass tanks.

My 95 MU and my 96 MU Wizard both have plastic top and bottom tanks, I replaced the Wizards not long after buying it and was replaced with a plastic tank.

My Mu has the plastic top and bottom tanks, and the top of it leaking... yet another job to work on!
