ECM Units

Can anyone tell me if there is an ECM computer in the 1991 2.8 turbo MU's??

I have been told there is by sum people and that there is not by others.

I thought they where only in the 3.1 and the V6 Mu's after 93.

There is a ECM but its only for the pollution control. If you remove the EGR units it becomes effectivly redundant but dont know if it can be removed completly Its under the tray in the center console.

Thats interesting. I have blocked off the EGR units. And I have nothing in the center console at the moment and there is no ECM there either. I have seen pics in the manuals of wot you r talking about and had a good look. nothing.

I have asked else where in the forums as I am looking for a speed sensor for my HUD (heads up display) and my turbo timer. some one said the back of the speedo has 2 screws that give out a pulse for speed. Otherwise I may have to get a digital speedo kit from jaycar to get there sensor.

Assuming you have a cable driven speedo like TF Rodeos had from 88-96, then there should be a pulse over 2 screws on the back of the speedo - PM me you email address & I will scan the pictures from my TF manual and send you a copy.

Not so good update.

I havn't had a chance to even look/test the dash yet as I screwed my gearbox last weekend and that sort of more important. lol..

Update. I have tested those points and I get a voltage across them.

Now I just have to work out wich 1 I can tap off to get the speed sensor in my turbo timer working...
