You might be lucky to score a Rodeo genuine one from Holden. Remember left side + right side are different. The only alternative is Marine shop which makes up cables, they will need yours to copy. Last time I replaced mine, 92 Rodeo I was lucky to probably get the last one in Australia from Holden. I know there is a marine shop at Labrador on Gold Coast, probably not too many in Toowoomba.

I have the same problem on my Mu at the moment to... I went into holden parts today and its like $NZ120 for the short one and $NZ170 for the longer one. but they do stock them... I have been trying to get the lengths in CM/MM so I can figure out which cable/s needs doing (or if i have lengths i can make one at work if needs be) .
Anyone know where to get the lengths? Isuzu/Holden said it not in any of their books.

Are your cables missing or just broken. It shouldnt be too hard to work out how much is needed each end of the sheaf and the measure the sheaf. Melbar cables in Taita can also make them but need the old one

I currently have no middle section of cable (part with the yoke), its on my passenger seat atm as I'm still shopping. So make sure I'm not in front of you on a steep hill lol ! I went to melbar cables on Wednesday, I cant really say on here the type of response i got when i asked to shorten a cable, and then the response when i asked if he knew the lengths. But i was not impressed! , So at this point i think I'm just gonna get them from HOLDEN *shudder*... in the end it will cost $50 more for genuine parts and no attitude. Only bit of advice i did get is (i asked a few other to check this as well) the it will be the left or right cable the attaches tot he calipers. apparently they are known from rotting out near the hook. If you want to get the genuine parts PM me and ill give you the DDI of the part man i was dealing with... Good man

To be honest I wasnt too impressed with Melbar either but they are the only place in town that does these commercially. They also dont put boots on there cables as they dont believe they are needed. I ended up freeing up my cables as they wern't broken just seized. Took 2 hours each running kero through while pulling back and forwards followed by lots of oil

Yeah, im heading to my folks in karori tomorrow to have a look (old man has a flat garage)... had planned on doing the same thing.. running machine oil down them while pullin and twisting the cables... fun afternoon eh!
I am asuming your using kero to clean the cable and sheaf? i was gonna use brakeclean. Thooughts? , maybe crc or some of the airtool oil i got.

I used over a liter of the stuff so unless you get a good price on brakclean. Crc might work but really I would use a better oil. I know of one mu that had grease nipples fitted to the center of the brake lines and then pumped full. It seemed to work

Hmmm.. i only have 3 can of brakeclean... should be enough... I also have a can of Lithium grease (from CRC), its like a spray that goes thick... think i should throw some of that down the cable b4 I put it back on?

Make sure it doesn't go tackie or else everything will stick to it, a light oil will be as good as any, i think mu's must have the worst hand brakes ever, i always have trouble at warrent time!!!

Well it was an interesting day. I think that machanic who did the last warrent needs to be shot!, with a bolt missing from the RR calliper and clips and ties missing all over the show. not to mention that the nuts on the wheel were done up soo tight they wouldnt come of with a rattle gun... Today all i managed to get done was remove the rear section of each cable. the left one was fully rotted out.. one tug and it fell to bits. figured the other side would be the same, but lucky it wasnt. it was seized with all the dirt in the sleeve. I didnt use brakeclean cos it would strip the oil from the cable and cause the cable to rot from the inside out. So i made a mix of CRC and Machine oil for air tools. and ran that down the cable. after a while it was free enought to move a bit. more squirts and now it works -for now, put some grease on it and sorted , so i only need to get the short LH cable @ $120 so i am happy bout that. can get the longer cable after i get some of the other items done.

What were the boots like on the cable? I replaced mine at both ends useing boots of nissan sunny clutch cables. You have to cut the clutch cable to get the boot so it pays if the wrecker isnt watching. The reason these jam and break in the loop at the end is that it is the lowest point on the cable. Who in there right mind would design a 4x4 brake cable to point up at the end

The boots on either end of the cable were shot (after inspestion yesterday everything with rubber on/in/round/between/covering is shot). And yep. you got it right.. it snapped and the other had seized at the lowest point, but least the longer one is moving again...
One fixed is better then non fixed ah.
