Has anyone taken the drives wheel off and the cover, to make it easier to undo and do up the turbo to manifold nuts? Just thought I would ask before taken said item of Cheers Bruce

Doesnt sound like a good idea and if yours is a 3.1 its asking for trouble

Sorry Alan lost me there. Maybe I did not put it right, can I get to the nuts holding the turbo to the manifold easier through the wheel arch, removing the wheel to make it easier Cheers Bruce

I misunderstood. I thought you meant the cover on the turbo. oops Since I do my filter through that hole I dont see a problem if it works. Dont know if it will help though. Do think safety and use good axle stands

hey geeves is it easier to get to the oil filter thru the wheel arch with the plastic bit removed than going over the top of the motor cause doing it over the top is a pian in the arse

With an intercooled 4jb1 its not possible to do the filter any way except through that cover. I had misunderstood the original question

Not a problem Alan more likely the way I worded it.

jellis/geeves. I do all my oil changes from the top (intercooled 4jb1-t). It becomes a whole lot easier/quicker if you get rid of the actuator for the exhaust flap (quick warm up thingie) and just wire the flap open. I've tried the wheel off method as well but can do it quicker from the top now.

Took the wheel off today, pretty easy to get at then, but one of the nuts was missing again. So now I put two smaller nuts on that one so I have a lock nut.

Turbo nuts are throwaway items. Use them once then replace. They are about $7 each for genuine ones but they don't keep coming undone like reused ones
