Does anyone know, or can anyone tell me if one of the bolts on the lower arm ball joint is welded to the arm?. Encountered this on saturday. Kinda stoped me in my tracks.
4 bolts. 1 welded. my new balljoint has 4 bolt holes.

they shouldn't be, the ones that sit lower in the plate can be hard to undo so the previous person may have welded it so they can get it undone.

They are not welded but the bolt does sit in a recess so the bolt cant turn You have to undo the nut. Then the fun starts as you have to push the cv ouit of the way to get the joint out.
Its also a pig to break the taper Best way is a very hard blow on the end of the casting with a very big hammer. The fork type seperator is almost garenteed to destroy the joint before it releases. A friend does them with a hammer and says first time every time I average 5 hits before I hit it hard enough.

Yeah... if i can get access to the carport over the weekend ill have another look.
Movin to karori in a fortnight btw.. so i wont be so local anymore lol.

Oh.. if you are looking at the L/H side of the vehicle. its one of the top bolt on the R/H side of the ball joint mount. Ill try to get a mirror and see what it looks like..
I should also mention that the other reason i got stoped was cos i didnt have a socket or spanner the size of the nut on the balljoint.. and teeth didnt work either.
