An interesting ocurance on an Odlins side track yesterday. Had to park on a steep hill and after trying to move off I had no power below 2500 revs Try and go with less than this and it stalled Try to go with more and just got 4 lots of rubber smoke from the tyres. Also although it idled ok it took a long time to build revs which meant the snatch recovery didnt work to well as Every time the strap came tight I would try and go and stall. After we were on normal ground the car went normally. It did have a slightly depleted battery from 10 min or more hard winching further down the track but I dont belive this was the issue as the starter still turned over ok. Any thoughts

Could have been sitting on enough of an angle the fuel pump couldn't pump enough fuel to the motor???

It was quite steep but not so much so that handbrake plus in gear wouldnt hold it. Haveing to hold on the footbrake while pushing the throttle with same foot and operating the clutch with the other ands a bit of fun.

Have you tried taking off on a road with tarmac? Do you still get the same thing?.
Maybe it was a dud tank of fuel?

Some one suggested to me that it may also -depending on the slope/angle, that it was just simply to much... like a car trying to get up a kerb may stall if theres not enough revs.... if you understand that...
Its got me stumped. but I do agree that the fuel side and maybe the air-intake side is worth having a look at.
