i have a 95 isuzu 3.1tdi and am goin to be putting a 2.5" strait thru exaust wth a coby muffler, just wondering if noise will be a issue??

Theres many coby mufflers so cant answer. If you put it where the current muffler is and it is too loud then you can fit a resonator on the end of the pipe fairly easily. One other thing to watch on the cobys is that some use stainless steel mesh instead of fiberglass for sound deadening. Apparently this reacts with diesel smoke. Dont know what happens but its not good

It makes the stainless corrode alot quicker as there is so many edges for the smoke chemicals to attack, hence it corrodes and falls to bits. Not sure on how long this will take though.
Why are you using a coby muffler??

whats the best set up thats not to expensive? dont mind what sort of muffler is used as long as its straight thru, thinking of coming of the dump pipe to a flexi then muffler and out the R H side just behind the front door

Is this a Mu or bighorn? A freind found a single coby on a short pipe similar to your description would drone a bit much on long trips. Also in NZ you need to ensure that fumes cant reenter the cabin which can be hard if the exhaust ends before the back of the cabin

I've got a plane old run of the mill 3" straight through muffler that i got from my local exhaust shop, think it was $90 - 100??? they had round ones and oval ones. Sounds good and doesn't drone very much. Had it for about 5 years now i think

The big problem with the side exit on a Mu is its only a couple of feet from the drivers ears. It doesnt have to be that loud before it can end up a little much

I "think" its elegal to have the exhaust finishing before the rear of the door and it must extrude outside of the body too? i have thought about it myself, but there was alot of hassels fitting it all in. You could make a dummy pipe that fits on the end for warrent time???

Definatly behind the door but beyond this it gets a little fuzzy. The purpose is to prevent fumes which a side exit faceing out can achieve but some testers take the view that if there is an opening window then it must be behind this When the exhaust was done on my wagon the mechanic who also issues Wofs said pipe must extend 2 inches passed everything which meant I kept tripping over it. Also it would stall the engine every time I backed into a bank. Its flush with the bumper now and no Wof probs
